22-Oct-2009 : A TRULY INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR

The 2009 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) International Concours will take place on Saturday 31 October in London's Regent Street.  With over half of the 132 pre 1905 veteran vehicles on display coming from outside the UK, this year's event is truly an international affair.

The annual LBVCR International Concours is a prelude to the actual Run, which takes place on Sunday 1 November from Hyde Park to Brighton's Madeira Drive, with 557 veteran cars from all over the world entered.  Both the International Concours and the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run are free to all visitors and last year attracted over half a million visitors, making it one of the largest motoring events in the UK.

The LBVCR International Concours has received entries from 19 different countries with Belgium, the celebrated country at this year's event, having the most international entries with 23.  Other countries represented include USA (7), Netherlands (7), Germany (9), Canada (2), China (1), France (3), Channel Islands (3) Italy (3), Mexico (1), Australia (1), Finland (1), Ireland (6), Portugal (1) Switzerland (1) and Austria (1).  England has the most numerous entries with 58, including 6 from London, with additional entries from Scotland (1) and Northern Ireland (1).

There are seven awards that will be presented at the end of the event on Saturday including a special spectators award where visitors to the event can vote for their favourite car.  Voting forms will be available from the information point near to the LBVCR stage in Regent Street.

One of the other trophies that entrants will be competing for is the Concourse' d'Elegance Trophy, which is awarded to the vehicle which most embodies the spirit of the veteran era and this year is supported by Turtle Wax.

The awards will take place on the main stage in Regent Street which will also be the venue for some very special entertainment.  To help celebrate Belgium as the manufacturing nation this year, The Band of the Royal Forest St Hubert will be performing during the Concours and also at the start line in Hyde Park on Sunday morning.

The LBVCR International Concours starts at 11am on Saturday 1 November with the cars departing at 3pm.
