20-Apr-2009 : CORPORATE ENTERTAINMENT WITH A DIFFERENCE

The organisers of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR), the world's longest running motoring event, have arranged a unique offering in event corporate hospitality.  Not only can corporate clients entertain their guests in the VIP Hospitality at the Finish Line on Madeira Drive in Brighton on Sunday 1 November, now they can be part of this international historic event by becoming an official entrant and travel from Hyde Park in London to Madeira Drive in Brighton in one of the 550 pre 1905 veteran cars.

The first London to Brighton took place on 14 November 1896 to celebrate the passing into law of the Light Locomotives Act which raised the speed limit to 14mph and eliminated the requirement for someone to walk in from of a motor vehicle waving a red flag.  The Run was re-enacted in 1927 and has been every year since then except for the war years and 1947 due to petrol rationing.  All vehicles taking part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run must have been manufactured before 1 January 1905 and every new entrant must go through the dating process to verify the vehicles age.  In 2008 550 entries were received, including 128 international entries, and this year a similar entry is expected for this highly popular event.  The event is completely free to the public and regularly attracts over 500,000 spectators to the International Concours in Regent Street on Saturday and the 60 mile Run itself on Sunday.

For a very limited number of Entries a corporate company can now be the official entrant of a fully prepared pre 1905 eligible motor car, complete with experienced driver, providing 3 passenger seats for the opportunity to entertain VIP guests during the 2009 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. The programme includes:

  • The opportunity to attend the various Event weekend functions
  • Enjoy the full experience of the 60 mile Run to Brighton in a 105 year plus motor car
  • Have the option to change guests at the half-way stop of Crawley
  • Enjoy VIP Hospitality at Brighton on arrival at the FINISH line in Madeira Drive
  • As the Entrant, receive the official Finishers Medal, Certificate and Photograph.

“Until now only those fortunate enough to own or have access to one of these rare motor cars have been able to take part in the annual LBVCR and enjoy the unique experience of early motoring,” said Event Director Roger Etcell. The recent growth of the event has seen it heavily over subscribed for entries making a place on the run increasingly sought after.  We have now made available a limited number of corporate entry places, providing the rare opportunity for companies to participate and entertain VIP guests with the incredible atmosphere and experience of the event.  This is a unique opportunity as I cannot think of another event of this stature where corporate guests receive the chance to actually take part in the event, rather than just watch from the sidelines.  The Corporate Car package certainly gives a company an opportunity to entertain their clients in a completely different way and I'm sure this will prove to be a popular addition to the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.”

The Corporate Entry programme is offered at an all inclusive price of £6,000 plus VAT. More information and prices for the various options are available by contacting Roger Etcell or Mark Pollard at lbvcr@motion-works.co.uk or 01327 856024.
