NEWS RELEASE ENTERTAINMENT ALL THE WAY FROM LONDON TO BRIGHTON. Saturday 30 October 2004 - Spectators and participants in this year's Royal Automobile Club London to Brighton Veteran Car Run will have much to see next weekend as the 470 pre-1905 Veteran cars set off from Hyde Park on the 71st annual running of this world-famous event. Sunday 7 November, Hyde Park 7.30am - The START and veteran actor Sir John Mills along with sponsor Sir Ray Tindle and Capital Radio's David Jensen together with other celebrities will be flagging away the 470 strong Veteran cars from 15 countries. At the first stop in Sussex, and the New City Jazz Band will be providing a New Orleans sound from 10am until 3pm whilst participants enjoy their coffee outside the George Hotel, Crawley. Onto Brighton and local band `Vintage Hot5' will be entertaining the crowds with their classic style of jazz from 10.30am until mid-afternoon with renditions from King Oliver and who some would say is the king of Jazz - ol' Satchmo, Louis Armstrong. Classics such as `Strutting with some Barbecue' and `Tiger Rag' will conjure up an atmosphere fitting for the many and varied cars participating in this years event. Whilst all of this is going on a superb classic air display will take place courtesy of Renault UK and Tiger Airways as renowned bi-plane pilot Tizi Hodson and ex-RAF pilot Andy Phipps will fly a brace of vintage Stampe SV4 aircraft, powered by Renault engines. They will be entertaining the crowds with a flypast and a fantastic aerobatic display as the veteran cars make their way along Madeira Drive, Brighton at the end of the 60 mile route of the 2004 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Before all the above gets underway, Saturday 6 November will witness around 70 of the most interesting cars from the Sunday Run being displayed and demonstrated from the events Concours to be held in Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, London from 11am to 3pm. During this event the Veteran cars will be joined by a selection of Veteran cycles including penny-farthings with riders in period costume. The annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest running motoring event and one of the most testing veteran car endurance events.
