23-Aug-2006 : LBVCR LAUNCHES THE 2006 SOUVENIR COLLECTION

The LBVCR (London to Brighton Veteran Car Run) have launched a range of high quality gifts and clothing which are available to participants and members of the public.

The range includes novelty items such as a the Mumbles' official teddy bear, a limited edition bone china mug and branded pen, to clothing, including branded fleeces, jackets and hats, to practical items for participants such as the LBVCR road safety kit.

The range of LBVCR souvenir items offers something for everyone from small, low cost items such as the pen at £2 or an enameled 2006 LBVCR lapel badge at £4, right up to the winter jacket at £99 or engraved cuff-links at £25, said Roger Etcell, LBVCR Event Director.  The whole collection was specifically chosen for their quality and range appeal and I'm sure that each and every item purchased will be a much cherished memento of this year's 110th Anniversary London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.

The full range of 2006 LBVCR Souvenir collection can be viewed online here and can be purchased by calling 01327 856024 (9am to 5pm) or by visiting the stalls on the LBVCR event on 3rd to 5th November.  Order form is also available here.

An expected line up of 500 veteran cars, all pre 1905 vehicles, will participate in the 2006 LBVCR on Sunday 5th November starting in Hyde Park, with the first cars leaving at 7:07am, and travelling the 60-miles to Brighton along the A23.  The event also includes a special LBVCR auction at Bonhams New Bond Street salerooms on Friday 3rd November and on Saturday 4th Regent Street will be closed to allow 100 of the veteran cars to be displayed in Central London in the 2006 LBVCR International Concours, with selected vehicles giving demonstration runs around Berkeley Square.

The LBVCR takes place on the first Sunday of every November (2006 event is on 5th November) and commemorates the Emancipation Run of 14 November 1896 which celebrated the passing into law of the Locomotives on the Highway Act, which raised the speed limit for `light locomotives' from 4 mph to 14 mph and abolished the requirement for these vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot carrying a red flag.
