New identity and clear direction for annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
Monday 15 March 2004 - Motion Works UK, the new management company for the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR), announces its strategy and direction for the long term future of the Run. In addition, a new identity is launched to depict the Run's nostalgic appeal and status, creating a symbol that will become recognised as the signature of the event internationally. The vision and goals are very clear and working on behalf of The Royal Automobile Club the aim of Motion Works will be to position the LBVCR as the most outstanding celebration of early motoring history with worldwide recognition, whilst maintaining its traditional values and ensuring a sound financial footing. Ensuring that the Sunday route organisation retains its continuity with enhancements as and where required, the focus will be on the areas of general communication, worldwide status, international participation, commercial development and financial structure. The Run will retain its traditional date (first Sunday in each November), its outline route, start and finish locations and its traditional entry criteria. Entry fees and closing dates have been reviewed favourably, as the aim is to make the event even more attractive to all Veteran car owners worldwide, with a target to increase the regular entry levels for the Run to 500 cars with around 20% international content. All weekend activities will now be co-ordinated into a programme that will bring together the regular Saturday reception at The Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall, the newly introduced and successful Saturday Concours, the Run itself and the VCC Annual Dinner on the Sunday evening at the Grand Hotel Brighton into one cohesive weekend event, with some additional new attractions to add to the occasion. Additional Sponsorship to compliment the respected and long standing support of Tindle Newspapers and the Daily Mail, plus extended PR including television are also targeted bringing additional commercial value and International recognition to the event. Regulations for the 2004 event are already in draft form and will be issued in late April with a first closing date of 31 July. For those participants ensuring their completed entries are submitted during this period the entry fee will be less than last year and International participants shipping their Veteran cars from countries outside Europe will benefit from FREE entry with just a nominal administration fee to be submitted. To summarise, the targets for Motion Works are;
Motion Works will also shortly be launching an all-new and exclusive website at www.LBVCR.com which will contain a host of features and detailed information about the event both past and present. The site will also provide the opportunity for participants to register for the Run and for all visitors to order their advance copy of the event programme and specially selected event memorabilia. The 2004 Run is now set for the weekend of 6/7 November with this year's event marking the occasion when the youngest participating car will be just 100 years Old!
