With still six months to go to the 2009 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR), the organisers of the world's longest running motoring event have already received entries for 510 pre 1905 veteran vehicles, with more expected in the coming weeks to bring the total to the maximum of 550 seen in 2008.  The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run will be held on Sunday 1 November, 113 years after the first run held in November 1896. 

Of the entries received, sixteen veteran cars have never taken part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run before, including a new entry from Mexico with a 1904 Decauville. For twenty-nine of the five hundred and ten drivers this will be their first LBVCR event. Over 20% of the entries are from outside the UK.

“We are very pleased to announce that we have already reached over 500 entries in such a short space of time and we expect to reach the maximum of 550 in the coming weeks,” said Roger Etcell, LBVCR Event Director.  “Last year we received the largest entry since the Centenary celebration year of 1996 and we are already well ahead of expectations for the 2009 London to Brighton.  This remarkable entry figure clearly demonstrates the continuing popularity of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Once again we have a significant number of overseas entriescoming from as far away as Australia, USA, China, South America, South Africa as well as most of Europe represented. This year we are celebrating Belgian as the pre 1905 manufacturing nation and we have received a significant increase in the number of participants from there and we are all looking forward to celebrating the 113th anniversary of the first London to Brighton Run in 1896 on Sunday 1 November this year.”
