NEWS RELEASE
STARS ON BOARD THE LONDON TO BRIGHTON VETERAN CAR RUN.
Tuesday 2 November 2004 - Shane Lynch, founder member of famed nineties band Boyzone will be participating in this Sunday's London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
In addition to his musical career Shane also proved himself very competitive on the racetrack, when he competed in the 2003 British GT Championship in a TVR Tuscan, at speeds rather faster than the 25mph he will travel at when he accompanies Harold and Jan Pritchard, from Enfield, in their 1903 De Dion Bouton entry start number 255.
This is the first time that Shane has had any involvement in the run, as it is also for one of Radio's much loved broadcasting personalities David Jensen. David, who started his career in Toronto in the seventies, was one of CNN's original launch team and is now main presenter on Capital Gold from 10am until 1pm Monday to Friday.
David will join the Concours event on Saturday 6 November and again on Sunday at the start of the Run in Hyde Park as one of the official starters. He will also be running a daily competition on his show this week to win an outstanding prize courtesy of Renault UK.
The prize is for one lucky winner plus guest to join Renault UK for the weekend - it will also include meeting David at 12.00 noon on Saturday 6 November at the Concours in Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, plus a ride in a Renault 1900 Type C, overnight accommodation in London, and chauffeur driven on Sunday 7 November to follow part of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run and then lunch at Madeira Drive, Brighton in the VIP marquee.
The Run is the world's longest running motoring event and has been a popular celebration for over 100 years with up to a million people lining the 60-mile route from London to Brighton. First run in 1896 to celebrate the abolition of the law that required motorists to be preceded by a man on foot carrying a Red Flag, the event is now a famous annual occasion and is renowned as the world's most testing endurance run for veteran cars.
Presented by The Royal Automobile Club since 1930 the event is enthusiastically supported and sponsored by the Daily Mail, Tindle Newspapers, Bonhams and Renault UK.
