03-Nov-2006 : STANDING ROOM ONLY AT BONHAMS FOR LBVCR AUCTION
The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) weekend got off to a great start when there was standing room only at the Bonhams New Bond Street salerooms for the sale of Veteran Motor Cars and Related Automobilia. Almost all of the lots were sold with the highest price of the day paid for the late Lord Strathcarron's 1903 George Richard 10hp Twin Cylinder Brougham. The car will be seen on the 2006 LBVCR on Sunday morning as the it was sold with its entry to the 110th anniversay event. Another car that was sold at the auction and will be seen on Sunday is the 1904 Siddeley 6hp Two Seater. The new American Owner, who is celebrating his birthday today, will be participating in his first LBVCR this weekend and will be getting some on-the-run driver training on how to handle this complicated veteran car. Tomorrow (Saturday 4th November) is the International Concours in London's Regent Street, which starts at 11am until 3pm in the heart of the Capital. On Sunday the first of the 492 entries leaves Hyde Park at sunrise (7:07am) with the last car leaving London around 08:30am. The participants will start arriving in Brighton after travelling the 60-mile route at around 10:15am, with the last car expected at 4:30pm.
