NEWS RELEASE
VETERAN ACTOR JOINS VETERAN CAR RUN
Tuesday 13 July 2004 - Sir John Mills, one of Britain's best-loved actors, will be taking part in this year's London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on Sunday 7th November.
A life long car enthusiast, Sir John has never taken part in the run before. He commented, I never had the time in the past as I was always so busy but it has been an ambition of mine as it is such a spectacular event.
Sir John has had a very impressive collection of vehicles including a Lamborghini Countach and a selection of Rolls-Royce cars that he regards as his favourites. There is still a Rolls-Royce in his garage and, although he can no longer drive it himself, is more than happy to be a passenger.
A veteran of more than 100 films Sir John has driven a variety of old and interesting cars himself in various roles spanning 70 years. The London to Brighton has a special link with Sir John as it was in Brighton that one of his favourite films `Oh What a Lovely War' was filmed in 1969.
Sir John enjoys making appearances at events that this year includes the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run much to the delight of the organisers, Motion Works UK. Roger Etcell, MD, said We are very proud to have Sir John on board for this historic event that, this year, celebrates 100 years of the youngest vehicle to take part. Sir John encompasses the very spirit of the Run.
The annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest running motoring event and the most testing veteran car endurance test. For detailed information about the new look 3-day event please visit www.LBVCR.com
