Veteran actor flies in to open Air Display & promote the 2004 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.

Monday 6 September 2004 - One of the UK's best loved actors, Sir John Mills CBE, will be flying in to Biggin Hill for the first time in his long career to open the Air Display on Saturday 18 September.

The Air Display, which takes place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September, will also feature a stunning display of cars from the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.

Cars such as the very first Ford production car, the Model A which dates back to 1903 built before the Model T and the oldest surviving Ford Motor Car in the world; a 1901 De Dion; 1904 Darracq; 1903 Northern and a Panhard that dates back to 1901.

Sir John's service career was spent in the Army and after the war, which brought several great films, he portrayed the prodigal son fighting for his country.

Of those films he played a young RAF pilot in `The Way to the Stars' released in 1945 and which depicted life on a British bomber base aptly during the opening days of the Battle of Britain - theme of this year's Air Display.

A veteran of more than 100 films Sir John will also be taking part in this years London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, another first for him, helping to flag the cars off at the Hyde Park Start on Sunday 7 November and joining the 60 mile Run to Brighton's seafront.

A lifelong car enthusiast Sir John has enjoyed a vast collection of vehicles including a Lamborghini Countach and a selection of Rolls-Royce cars that he regards his favourites.
