World's longest running motoring event prepares for over 500 entries from 16 countries as FRANCE becomes the event theme for 2005.

Thursday 10 February 2005 - Organisers of The Royal Automobile Club's annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) are preparing for the 72nd running of the world renowned event with a further increase in participating veteran vehicles expected. An entry list in excess of 500 vehicles of pre 1905 manufacturer is anticipated for the Sunday 6 November celebration of motoring, an increase of over 20% in the last 2 years!

Having increased the entry level to 469 last year the new 3-day format is set to attract a further 10% increase taking the start number to over 500 as strong interest from across the UK, Europe, the Far-East, Australia, South Africa, Canada, South and North America is received.

The introduction last year of the new Friday Auction at Bonhams, the participant's receptions on Friday and Saturday and the Saturday Concours to complement the Sunday Run will all feature further enhancements taking the world famous event to new heights as the event gathers increasing popularity.

New for 2005 will be the introduction of an annual theme. The LBVCR is very much a British event but the organisers were particularly pleased to see international entries rise considerably last year and to further encourage this move it is planned to recognise countries that played an important role in the history of motoring by introducing an annual theme based on Countries of veteran car origin starting this year with FRANCE in recognition of Renault's support to the Run. This will provide further international interest and an opportunity to feature relevant association throughout the 3-day event.

Event sponsors Daily Mail, Tindle Newspapers, Renault UK and Bonhams have all confirmed their valued continued support for 2005 and the organisers will shortly be announcing further sponsor partners in the coming weeks. Sponsorship is an extremely important part of the success of the annual LBVCR as spectators are treated to free viewing to these exclusive and famous 101 year old plus veteran vehicles at the Saturday Concours and along Sunday's 60 mile route from Hyde Park, London to Madeira Drive, Brighton.

Participants will be pleased to learn that the reduced entry fees in 2004 have been frozen for 2005 with entrants coming from outside Europe enjoying free entry with only a minimal administration charge to secure.

The entire 3-day event of 2004 was professionally filmed for television broadcast. This was the first time in many years with the event enjoying one-hour programmes on the satellite Motors TV channel with multiple repeats throughout last December. A 90 minute DVD/VHS was made available which quickly sold out. New stocks are now available at 15.00 plus 2.00 post/packing from the organisers Motion Works UK Limited on +44(0)1280 841 062 or at info@LBVCR.com

The introduction last year of an official event website at www.LBVCR.com provided over 50 pages of information including pictures and details of each of the 469 participating vehicles. The website provides a complete background to the event together with regular event news information. The revised 2005 site will be live from the end of February.

The popular Saturday Concours in the heart of London is targeted to reach 100 vehicles this year. In 2004 the event was attended by several thousand spectators. Display runs of a number of the veteran cars, complemented by period cycles from the Veteran Cycle Club, entertained the enthusiastic crowds with many of the drivers attending in period costume. An exciting development of this feature display is expected to be announced soon.

The all-new Veteran Car themed Auction presented by Bonhams at their New Bond Street salerooms last November was a huge success and further enhancements are planned for the 2005 sale on Friday 4th November.

Ends.
