01-Jul-2008 : LBVCR REACHES MAXIMUM ENTRY
With still four months to go to the 2008 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR), the organisers of the world's longest running motoring event have already received the maximum entry of 550 pre 1905 veteran vehicles, up from 537 total final entries received in 2007. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run will be held on Sunday 2 November, 112 years after the first run held in 1896. “We are very pleased to announce that we have already exceeded 550 entries, with a reserve list established for the 2008 event,” said Roger Etcell, LBVCR Event Director. “Last year we received the largest entry since 1996 and to exceed this number four months ahead of the event demonstrates the increasing popularity of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. We have also seen a significant increase in overseas entries, up by 20 percent, which includes five times as many entries from across the Channel for this year's celebration of French manufacturers. Entries for the 2008 LBVCR will still be registered and placed on a reserve list.” The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is held over three days, with the LBVCR Auction with Bonhams at their New Bond Street salerooms on Friday 31 October, the LBVCR International Concours in Regent Street on Saturday 1 November and the actual Run on Sunday 2 November, with the first car leaving Hyde Park at 6:58am (sunrise). An estimated 500,000 spectators attended the LBVCR last year, making it the UK's largest free-to-view motoring event. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is organised and promoted by Motion Works UK Limited on behalf of The Royal Automobile Club, an agreement that started from early 2004. A new five year agreement has just been concluded with Motion Works continuing to organise and promote the event from 2009.
